Snapchat 2.0 and Your Brand


If you’re a big fan of Snapchat (the app that allows you to communicate with people via text chat, video, or pictures that disappear after a set amount of time you dictate) get excited. A few days ago, the app rolled out what they’re calling Chat 2.0. We at Ghost Media love Snapchat for sending pictures of lattes to our best friends and all the delicious food we get to eat from our clients.

 

However, Chat 2.0 just rolled out a slew of features that are blowing our minds. It’s fun. It’s flirty. It is filled with extras like the ability to send your friends a comic sloth vomiting up a rainbow.

Say hello to cross-platform video chat! Now users of Android and iOS devices can video chat the same way users of iOS devices are able to FaceTime. Users can now clear up space on their phones and ditch apps like Tango, the first of its kind allowing users to video and voice call for free on various platforms.

Stickers

Get pumped. All those exciting and new emojis are at your disposal. Instead of your snaps getting stale, you can incorporate them into your content for an added bit of flare. Everyone loves the brand who knows how to be quick on the update and find innovative new ways to reach their audience.

Auto-advance Stories

Now when viewers click on “stories” to watch from their friends, they’re automatically taken down their list of contacts. This allows Snapchat users a more seamless viewing experience. Instead of having to click on every single story they want to see, a viewer is taken through all of their contacts and their stories throughout the day. This means a wider, more attentive audience for your brand’s story. It means you’ll be in the mix with all their friends and family — great company to have, no?

And while some people may find this particular feature annoying, think about how it can help your brand awareness. Your audience will now find you far more often than they would by having to click on your story in order to view it.
