When Facebook emerged in 2004 it completely shifted the way we interact, especially online. The social media platform quickly became a juggernaut, and for a while it seemed like we would never be able to part ways with Facebook. However, a shift occurred. Millennials began to care way more about snap-chatting their manicures and interactions with Vine stars to care what was on their newsfeed. For some, it appeared that Facebook was destined to become a wasteland of cat/baby pictures posted by their distantly related Aunt. For brands, it seemed as if their ad dollars spent attracting one of the most lucrative markets were being wasted. If Millennials weren't using Facebook, how were they to be reached on an e-commerce level?
However, we're here to tell you fear not! Millennials are still on Facebook. It is still hip and happening according to Comscore, who found that between social media users ages 18-34 use Facebook far more often. When compared to Instagram, Snapchat, and Vine, Facebook annihilated the competition.
So, for those who have been stressing that you've been spending your ad-space money on the wrong social media platform, you've been doing it right. For everyone else who is still under the impression that Facebook is slowly fading away, these numbers don't lie!
